Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Lumo Clinic holds a variety of dermal fillers to suit specific treatment programs for your skin needs.

As our skin ages, it gradually loses its fat pads and they descend so the skin droops causing lines from nose to mouth and below the mouth as well as a sagging jawline. Dr Sonia uses her skillfull eye to curate a treatment plan specific to each patient. Dermal fillers when used in the right place in the right amount can sculpt the face, giving volume where it is deficient and altering how the light hits the face which gives that youthful look. Sometimes dermal fillers are used just under the skin to give strength to where the tissue is weak and hydrates the skin.

Lip injection

Fillers are typically made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps to keep the skin plump and hydrated.

Fillers are injected into the skin to add volume and contour areas such as the cheeks, lips and chin, as well as to smooth out wrinkles.

Dermal fillers can provide a range of benefits, including smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, restoring volume to the face, enhancing facial features such as lips and cheeks, and improving the appearance of scars and other imperfections. They are a non surgical alternative to more invasive procedures such as face lifts and the effects are typically immediate.

Like any cosmetic treatment, dermal fillers can have side effects. Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling and bruising at the injection site. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as infection, allergic reaction or vascular occlusion may occur. It is important to choose a qualified and experienced injector and to discuss any concerns or questions with your provider before undergoing treatment.

The duration of dermal filler results can vary depending on the type of dermal filler used and the treatment area. Generally hyaluronic acid fillers last from 6-12 months, while other types of fillers may last longer. The effects of the filler will gradually wear off with time and repeat treatments maybe necessary to maintain the desired results.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat a variety of areas on the face, including:

1. Nasolabial folds: these are the lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

2. Lips: Fillers can be used to add volume to thin lips or enhance the shape and definition of lips

3. Cheeks: Fillers can be used to add volume to the cheeks and create a more youthful appearance.

4. Under eye area, the tear trough: Fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of dark circles and hollows under the eyes

5. Temples: Fillers can be used to add volume to the hollow temples and improve the overall balance of the face.

6. Marionette lines: these are the lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin

7. Jowls: Fillers can be used to improve the appearance of the jawline and smooth out any irregularities

8. Jawline: Fillers can be used to contour and create a more defined jawline or ‘snatched look’.

It is important to note that specific treatment areas and techniques used will depend on the individual’s unique facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. A qualified and experienced injector can provide a personalised treatment plan based on a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s needs.
